Using the sun's rays as a source of energy is becoming ever more relevant. Photovoltaic modules have the potential to be applied as design surfaces and to be made eye-catching by sampling them. In the form of a collection of samples, my project proposes the use of coloured photovoltaic cells on roofs. The wide range of designs plays with visual illusion and – depending on the context – can produce a look of assimilation or irritation.
This sunny work is part of a project by the Products and Textiles Research Group – HSLU Design and Art."

The 9 patterns play with the three-dimensionality and take up the horizontal emphasis of the bricks. They're showing an altered near-far effect. Clear colours and shapes can be seen from names, but from a distance, they blend into optical colour mixtures. Each pattern fits with its colour variant to a different roof type, so the same pattern can be integrated once more or stand out more.

I had the opportunity to produce 4 modules with my samples as real photovoltaic modules. Because my samples are adapted to the standard modules of the Suncol Tile of the Swiss company Sunage and thus adaptable to any roof. Here we see the modules in their application on a roof.
